COTTONS RHUM SHACK REVIEW- Shoreditch, London

I’m feeling a tad nostalgic & mopey today, and this #iso life ain’t bloody helping! So to try and relive that, I want to take you on a virtual journey to my favourite rum spot in #London, where I am originally from.

I want to take you to ‎North East London, in the heart of Shoreditch to my favourite place to meet up with friends whenever I go home; Cottons Rhum Shack. Cotton’s situated in Shoreditch’s infamous #Boxpark, a pop-up shipping-container mall full of wonderful delights like bars, clothing boutiques, and bric-à-bracs stores. Located on the upper deck, away from the hustle and bustle of Shoreditch High Street, #Cottons offers you a little taste of the Caribbean without the hefty price.

Renowned for being London’s longest-running Caribbean brand, opening in Camden back in 1985, with Vauxhall, Notting Hill and Shoreditch following suit. Cottons is a lively place with music, #rum and food to match.

So if you are ever in London, looking for a place to grab a drink before heading out for the night, you must hit up one of these spots. Not only will the atmosphere set you off in the right direction but the amazing selection of cocktails they have on offer will no doubt help.

DRINKS

The main reason I am so fond of this place is obviously the rum, the bar holds a hefty selection of rums, one that surpasses pretty much any other bar in London. All 300 + of their rums are temptingly lined up behind the bar, so it super easy to get carried away when ordering a few drams/cocktails.

The cocktails I am fond of, are the following:

This cocktail brings the sweetness, fruitiness and the heat!

A yummy thirst quenching berry mojito. Perfect amount of mint and lime to compliment the rum and berry.

All three ingredients (rum, lime, sugar) are exposed in this drink, which is always a good thing.

My go to fav combo when I am in a bar. Chairman’s reserve spice adds so much more spice than your usual rum and coke.

A deliciously fresh cocktail that’s rum nicely plays off the light fruit that accompanies it.

As you can tell, all the cocktails I grabbed were a delight. Sadly I had to stop there as my jet lag was kicking my ass, being the reason why i have spent the whole day, day dreaming about being back there ;-)

Have you ever popped into Cottons? I would love to hear what you thought about below :-)
